Siem Reap
Cambodia has long been famous as one of the most attractive "stopovers" in Southeast Asia. This place is not only famous for the rustic and modern city of Phnom Penh but also famous for the ancient Angkor Wat temple complex. Coming to Cambodia, it is incomplete if you do not visit Siem Reap - The city that keeps the most mysterious heritage in the world to help visitors freely explore "fascinated" to "forget the way back".
Here are a few recommended destinations for you when traveling to Siem Reap:
Visit Angkor Wat temple complex
Located about 6km from the north of Siem Reap city is the majestic Angkor Wat temple complex preserving the unique culture of the Khmer people. This is the largest religious structure in the world. This place is likened by many people to a crown with 3 tall towers reaching to the sky. In particular, if viewed from above, these are like lotus flowers blooming in the middle of a vast blue lake.
This is definitely your big mistake if you don't visit Angkor Wat when coming to Siem Reap. So don't miss this one of the best places to visit!
Complex of Angkor Thom
Located next to the Angkor Wat temple complex, Angkor Thom is also a temple that you should definitely visit. Angkor Thom is a big capital in 12 century and there are many beautiful temples in it especially the main one called Bayon temple it is in the middle of Angkor Thom city. This place is indeed a place where you will find it extremely interesting to have the opportunity to learn in detail about the ancient Khmer culture. The temple is designed with extremely fancy architecture including a system of palaces, temples, etc., very eye-catching.
In addition to Angkor Thom temple, you can also choose to visit some other temples such as Bayon temple, Ta Phom temple, Banteay Srei temple, etc.
Angkor National Museum
Angkor National Museum - The Legend Revealed During the Golden Era of the Khmer Kingdom, one of the ancient civilizations of this world was being created. It was the origin of Khmer art, culture, and architecture. Tonle Sap Lake
For those who wish to travel a little further afield, venture out to Southeast Asia’s largest freshwater lake and river system known as the Tonlé Sap. Here you can cruise past the stilted villages on the lake, like in the town of Kampong Phluk that soars above the water in the dry season and sits on top of the water in the rainy season. For an alternative experience to watching the sunrise at Angkor Wat, we recommend getting out on the lake early in the morning. This is when the village slowly wakes up and a blistering sun rises over the water before locals head off to work and children row themselves to school.
The street markets
Local markets are central to Cambodia’s neighbors and are packed with people early in the morning as people clamor for the freshest food of the day.
The Russian Market and Central Market in Phnom Penh whip up everything from clothing, souvenirs, music, and DVDs to food, household items, and vehicle parts. In Siem Reap, Angkor Night Market and Old Market are also very popular centers. Get ready to haggle!
Siem Reap is packed with adventure, history and beauty, and you could easily spend a long time here without seeing and experiencing everything.
